A Witch to Live…Finally

A Witch To LiveMy latest novel, A Witch to Live, is available for sale. It costs $2.99 and is available at Amazon and Smashwords.

Check it out at Amazon and Smashwords.

Here is the official description that I’m hoping will make buyers go “Hey, that sounds interesting.”

Kevin always had one ability that set him apart from everyone else. Healing. He healed his classmate Rachel when they were six years old, even though it almost exposed him.

He lost his parents after starting high school. Now a senior, he struggles to stay out of his sisterโ€™s way as she takes care of both of them. He sleeps on the couch in their one-bedroom apartment and walks to school. His sister is the only person he calls a friend. As if that werenโ€™t enough, he discovers his power goes far beyond simple healing.

Kevin is a witch.

On top of everything, he has to deal with the surprises of the supernatural world. It turns out witch-hunters, vampires, and werewolves donโ€™t like witches all that much. Kevin will need help from his new girlfriend Rachel, the sympathetic vampire Victoria, and every trick in his spell-book to survive.

And my own thoughts.

Nervous. Excited. Relieved. Terrified. All of the above. ๐Ÿ™‚

A Witch to Live takes place in the same world as Demonspawn. This means that the world is full of supernatural beings that people don’t notice. Vampires, werewolves, goblins, ghosts, demons, and as I explore in this novel, witches.

I tried to write A Witch to Live so that Demonspawn isn’t required reading. I wanted the novel to stand on its own, and not have the reader constantly going “What is he talking about?” However, for those that have read Demonspawn (and hopefully enjoyed), you’ll recognize a few characters and events.

I think the characters turned out pretty well in this novel. I tried to take some of the criticism of other characters I’ve created to heart. For example, Alex Teague was too powerful and dense, the main heroes are Mary Sues. (Note: I didn’t even know what this term meant for the longest time. From what I understand, a Mary Sue is typically a character without flaws, basically a little too perfect). I tried to give the main characters (Kevin, Rachel, even the old and wise Victoria) believable personalities, and room to grow. I’m hoping the audience likes the characters as much as I do.

I’m not sure if you’d call this a series or not. Does a series always follow a particular set of characters, or can it just be in the same world? Anyway, I do have another novel I’m working on that takes place in this world as well, and dropped a few hints in A Witch to Live that maps the direction of the next novel.

Thank you to the beta readers who were an enormous help in getting this novel cleaned up. As always, I gave a mention to you after the copyright. And of course, thank you to the wifey who keeps me going, along with the cats who never let me get any sleep.
